In this case, the cake itself is not marbled, the
icing is. I came up with this marble technique when decorating a cake for a
silver anniversary. I started mixing white and black fondant while pondering
how to give the cake a silver appearance. I soon noticed the marble effect,
stopped mixing and rolled out the fondant. I found it gave the cake an elegant
look. Since then I’ve made the marble decoration with lots of different colors and
more or less blending.
